Bonny Hills BIG4.

Sun, 09. Sep. 2018
16:38

Location

BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Bonny Hills, 24 Beach St, Bonny Hills NSW 2445, Australia

Info

Sliding down the coast towards Sydney. Again Julie drove most of the way today. Had to wrestle the car back. I guess that's what happens when you get your car tuned up. 😎😎😎 http://www.toyotune.com.au A brief stop at some massive truck stop for a bite to eat. Felt like a dinky toy parked in amongst the B-Doubles. ⛟🚚🚛🚲🚚🚛⛟ Took less time to get here than the car navi said. The car navi is so out of date, but I have a solution in the wind. 😏😏😏 This place looks good. Nice beach. Maybe should have stayed here one full day and one less in Sydney. 🤔🤔🤔 Oh Well! So be it.

When we arrived last night it was too late for Aidyn to go for a surf. He had time this morning before we packed up. This is where I wish I had my eaveski with me. Nice little wave and semi offshore. Aidyn had about an hour us in the surf.

Lane Cove River Tourist Park.

Mon, 10. Sep. 2018
14:56

Location

Lane Cove National Park, Lane Cove Valley Walk, West Pymble NSW 2073, Australia

Info

After a event full trip from Bonny Hills. A fuel stop (Caltex) that was 8.0 cpl dearer than any where else. A captive market on the M1. 👎👎👎 Further down the road we needed a P stop for the kids. Again a Caltex. If you don't treat yourself as a truck you get directed through car parks and tight turns. Badly planned and is the last stop before you exit the M1 about 60kms. Well I thought the Daintree road was narrow! The Pacific Highway through to the caravan park I reckon is a tad narrower. All booked in and setup and off to the closest shop for food supplies. Got lost in Macquarie Plaza shopping centre. Talk about a rabbit warren and split levels and OMG .... 😲😲😲 Very nice park. Very quiet except for our kids. Although no one seems to have anything left out or any windows open in there caravans. Need to investigate further we must. 🤢🤢🤢

The Big Day At The Zoo.

Tue, 11. Sep. 2018
9:23

Location

Taronga Zoo, Bradleys Head Rd, Mosman NSW 2088, Australia

Info

And it was a BIG day at the zoo too! 🙃🙃🙃 Left the caravan at 7:45am and arrived back at 7:30pm and I think we are all spent. 😴😴😴 Taronga is a fantastic zoo. A great range of animals and is some cases not just one or two but more in numbers. It has an amazing view of Sydney in some spots. It has Gorillas, Seal Show, Free Flying Bird Show, Sumatran Tigers and many more stuff. We also ran into the family from Victoria that we met at Cape Trib. It seems we are destined to see them from time to time. Walked around a few blocks in Sydney and had dinner in there to avoid the rush hour and then headed home for the night.

Location

Three Sisters, 23-31 Echo Point Rd, Katoomba NSW 2780, Australia

Info

Our first welcome was paid parking on all streets. $4.40 per hour and minimum of 1 hour. Well, I suppose it is cheap considering the view is free. It certainly has changed since Julie was here and enormously since I was here. 🤔🤔🤔 We picked a good clear sunny day. I would not like to visit here on a weekend or school holidays. Lots of tourists from overseas and a school group or two. Not as bad as Taronga Park Zoo though. It is an awesome spectacle to behold. 🙂🙂🙂 Decided not to do the senic rail as kids want to go back to Taronga Zoo to do the rope course. Going to Woolies in Katomba instead of Sydney suburbia and then heading back via where I lived and went to school in Sydney. Strange, I wanted to have a look but so do the kids. 🤔🤔🤔 FYI: It was a cruisey drive from Sydney to Katomba. Dual lanes all the way and only too an hour.

North Sydney Walk Over The Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Thu, 13. Sep. 2018
9:45

Location

Luna Park Sydney, 1 Olympic Dr, Milsons Point NSW 2061, Australia

Info

We catch the train from North Ryde once again but this time get off at Milsens Point. A down hill walk to the North Sydney Pool. I swam at the state titles here once in 4 x 100 relay. I recall the biggest thrill was watching Shane Gould win her 100 freestyle in a very quick time. The exact time eludes me. I 🤔🤔🤔 The pool looks like it has had a bit of facelift since then. But, next door the iconic Luna Park is still there and operating on Friday through Mondays. We continued to walk around the base of the Harbour Bridge and back up on to the w as ok way along side the traffic lanes. 🤗🤗🤗 A great view of the eastern side of Sydney Harbour and its busy water ways.

Wild Ropes At Taronga Zoo.

Thu, 13. Sep. 2018
12:22

Location

Taronga Zoo, Bradleys Head Rd, Mosman NSW 2088, Australia

Info

We promised the kids that they could do the rope course at Taronga Zoo. So off we go again to Circular Quay via a quick short cut through The Rocks from the Harbour Bridge walk. And after we had such a good day at Taronga Zoo a couple of days ago the Wild Ropes was rather disappointing for the kids. 😕😕😕 The sign says you need to be 8 years and over 140cm. Taleah is 131cm and they won't budge on it. She has to go on the kids course for 3+ years. After two circuits she has had enough and is bored. Not enough of a challenge. Disappointed we left after only 15 minutes of the hour.

Darling Harbour.

Thu, 13. Sep. 2018
15:39

Location

Darling Harbour, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia

Info

A quick visit to an Information Centre in The Rocks and we found out the best way to get to Darling Harbour is catch the ferry to Pyrmont. So we did! You also get a different view from the west of the Opera House, The Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney CBD. Not much time but we did a walk around and had a Ferriswheel ride on the way to Wynyard Station and home. There has been some serious money spent on Darling Harbour in the past decade of so, and still more development going on. Having said that it seems that everywhere you go in Sydney there is some public works construction happening and of course a lot of private construction. as well. 🏫🏬🏭 Ah well, at Wynyard Station now, so time to relax on the upper deck of the train and travel back to North Ryde. 🚄🚄🚄 The train, bus and ferry system has what is called an Opal Card that you tap on and tap off as you go. Similar to Perth but this one shows you how much coin you have left each time you tap off. It does seem to work very well. Home and rest for our last big day in Sydney.

The Gap.

Fri, 14. Sep. 2018
10:44

Location

The Gap Lookout, 27 Military Rd, Watsons Bay NSW 2030, Australia

Info

A very nice day for a walk along The Gap. The Gap is now fenced at about 1.5 meters high. Difficult to see in some places. The Albany Gap is way more spectacular with better viewing platforms. Great view back to the city and Harbour Bridge. Some seriously priced real estate we drove through.

Info

This is refreshing change. Not much has changed and looks almost a I remember. A small wave coming through with a few surfers. Aidyn went swimming in amongst the board riders. 🙄🙄🙄 Taleah eventually got wet. Aidyn would have stayed another hour I reckon but we needed to continue on.

Captain Cooks Landing 1770.

Fri, 14. Sep. 2018

Location

Kamay Botany Bay National Park, Cape Solander Dr, Kurnell NSW 2231, Australia

Info

The entrance to Botany Bay and the landing point for Captain Cook. After all the time I spent at the Wanda Surf Club Cronulla Beach I never did have a look at the place that Captain Cook landed. While driving along the road it was noticeable to me that the sand hills have gone and have bee replaced with a rubbish tip. the 😱😱😱 A worth while look at the coast and landing point. It also seems to be a popular whale watching location at Point Solander. Had dinner at Brighton Le Sands at a random place called Lashings. the 🙃🙃🙃 Headed for the airport to drop off Julie so she can go home. Befire you jump to conclusions, it is actually to travel back to Perth for her father's birthday. 🎂🎂🎂

Julie's Departure.

Fri, 14. Sep. 2018
18:27

Location

Sydney Airport, Sydney NSW 2020, Australia

Info

Slowly driving towards the parking. I had previously measured the car at 2.42 metres high. I am now in a parking que for 2.2 metres high. Oh brother, this could be a problem. 😥😥😥 Well the first beam looks higher than the bar on entrance that the tyre on top of the rack hit. However at the same time the back wheels go over a speed bump, so maybe I'll be ok. 🤞🤞🤞 We missed the beam and no cars behind us yet. Travelling very very slow. 🐢🐢🐢 Looking for a parking spot and there we go. So as I swing out I failed to notice the sign above and now I have it resting on the tyre on the roof rack. 😖😖😖 Everyone is panicking except me (of course) as I moved the sign to one side. A helpful dude from the NRMA who was following at this stage gets put and holds the sign while I drove forward. He stops the traffic while I park the cruiser. 😁😁😁 All good. Now lets get Julie checked in for the flight.
